Norwegian Airport Snow Symposium 2009

Published: 9.6.2009

For the very first time during the 100 years long history of the Øveraasen company, we had the pleasure to arrange the Norwegian Airport Snow Symposium. The event took place in our hometown Gjøvik, from the 25th until the 27th of February.

110 customers from 18 countries participated and could listen to first class speakers from different snow-rich parts of the world. Technical innovations, experiences, environmental challenges and ideas were exchanged during the conference part.

On Thursday evening, dinner were arranged in the Gjøvik Olympic Cavern Hall, the world's largest in-mountain colosseum, built for the Olympic Winter Games in 1994. Inside the mountain, 120 meters from the entrance, the guests could enjoy a wonderful meal and listen to good music.

On Friday, a giant practical demonstration of various winter maintenance vehicles took place at Oslo Airport Gardermoen. During real winter conditions, the spectators could watch unit snow blowers from 180 to 600 horsepower in action. Further, self-propelled snow blowers like the Oshkosh HH 750, Øveraasen TV 1360 as well as the "Big Boss" TV 2000, fought their way through the snow banks. At last but not least, an RS 400 Runway Sweeper showed it's excellent high performance capabilities.

Øveraasen AS wants to thank our guests as well as the speakers for their participation in this event, which turned out to be a great success. As one of the guests said; "I have already enlisted for the next 100 years anniversary!"
